讓@通行全球 電郵之父辭世享壽74歲
法新社6日報導，廣被譽為是電子郵件的發明人，並讓連結戶名和網域的@符號通行全球的美國程式設計者湯林森(Ray Tomlinson)去世，享壽74歲。
在湯林森發明讓不同機器的使用者，在一個特定的網路之間進行直接的電子通訊之前，用戶只能在同一個電腦上寫訊息給其他用戶。而他選用@作為連結用戶名稱和網域之間的符號，如今更讓@成為通行全球的文化標誌。
湯林森的雇主雷神公司(Raytheon Co.)發表聲明，稱他是一名真正的科技先驅，他的工作改變了世界通訊的方式，而儘管有如此的成就，但他依然謙虛、仁慈和慷慨大方，大家都會懷念他。
雷神公司的一名發言人說，湯林森是在5日辭世，目前未能確定他的死因。
網路世界也湧入對他的悼念。谷歌(Google)的Gmail團隊就在推特發文，感謝湯林森發明了電郵，並且讓@標誌出現在網路的版圖上。而被視為網際網路先驅之一的塞夫(Vint Cerf)，也為湯林森去世這個非常悲傷的消息而哀悼。
